La Mamounia

Greetings from Morocco!  This morning we were taken on tours of The Bahia Palace, Medrassa Ben Youssef (a former Saadiene School), and The Koutoubia Mosque.  They were all beautiful!  The mosque is the largest in Marrakech with approximately 12,000 people.  The minaret is the highest point in the city and will remain that way due to laws preventing the building of anything higher.  The call to prayer from this minaret occurs 5 times a day.  It is spoken by a man into the microphone which can be heard anywhere in the city.  The call to prayer uses the same words each time except for in the morning when a line added stating something simiar to 'praying is better than sleeping'.  We were also taken on a tour of the Souks (local shops) and are returning there this afternoon as our morning tour didn't allow shopping!  Our farewell dinner is this evening before we board our flight home tomorrow.  We will be in Orlando tomorrow night before catching our flight to Dan's parents in San Antonio on Monday!  We look forward to catching up with everyone and sharing all of the pictures from our amazing adventure!

Local bakery.... everyone brings their dough here.  He bakes it and then delivers the baked bread at the end of the day

This former school was beautiful!  The weird part is the outside was VERY plain!
