Land of the Lotus Flower

I think it is safe to say that Dan and I didn't really know what to expect of Cambodia. We didn't know much about the history, people etc.  We have both found that we really love this country.  It is beautiful!  We started our day with a trip to Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat.  These two temples had the most beautiful and intricate stone carvings one could imagine.  After leaving the temples we were able to visit a local elementary school.  Students in Cambodia go to school four hours a day five days a week.  There classes on average have 40-50 students per class.  Dan and I also went to a museum in Angkor and learned more about the history of this amazing country.  We ended our evening with a show from local Cambodian Dancers! We are off tomorrow to Chengdu China and a Panda research center on our way to Tibet.  We will be away from internet for about 3 days. Talk to you again from India!

Angkor Wat

The holes in the stone were for wooden rods.  These rods we placed through the holes which enabled the pieces of stone to be moved by elephants!
